Chania's Green Wall: 3000 flowers planted with students!

Chania 29 October 2024

Last week, students from the St. Loukas 1st Primary School of Chania and St. Ioannis 1st Special Primary School of Chania participated in an activity organised by our CiPeL partners at the intervention site of the KYDON Municipal Parking, giving more life and colour to the green wall.

As part of the so-called Jasmine Wall project, schoolchildren took part in the transplanting of plants into pots, which were then placed in the construction site of KYDON's Green Wall, the JUSTNature intervention point in the city, located in the outside area of the Peridou Street bus station. Through this activity, the children had the opportunity to see the construction of the project up close and learn about nature-based solutions as well as the way they can improve city centers.

Local media says about the project: "It is pointed out that KYDON DIMOTIKI S.A., within the framework of the European Horizon Program with the acronym JUSTNature (Activation of solutions based on nature), in collaboration with the Technical University of Crete and the active participation of citizens, implements the "Green Wall". The "Jasmine Wall" of Kydon S.A. is an innovative and unique project in terms of domestic and European data, which is going to green the centre of our city, offering multiple benefits both in terms of air quality and aesthetics, as well as in terms of education, know-how and good practice."
