As part of the JUSTNature project, the stad Leuven team is not only focusing on Nature-based Solutions on the Constantin Meunier Street! We're also working to bring more greenery and biodiversity to the entire 'Nieuw Kwartier' neighborhood.
To support this, we launched a campaign focused on green facades and bird nesting facilities, where residents could sign up for a climbing plant and climbing aid installation. The design and plant choices were made with the heritage value of the buildings in mind – the plants highlight the historic facades.
In November and December, Wonen&Werken installed 33 green facades and climbing aids in the neighborhood. We can’t wait to see them grow in the spring and help boost biodiversity in the area!
