Bellevue di Monaco: celebrating summer in a greener courtyard

On the 20th August 2025, the Munich local team held an international dinner event with the Open House community at the Bellevue di Monaco.

Back in May, as part of the weekly International Women's Café run by JUNO, women planted shrubs and flowers in the renovated courtyard. Now, in celebration of the summer and the one-year anniversary of the courtyard's redesign, the JUSTNature local team held an international dinner with the Open House community. Over Afghani, Persian, German and other international home-cooked food, around 50 participants with migration background shared their associations with the courtyard and how its change impacted both the center and them as part of the community. The dinner was also an opportunity to "say goodbye" to the JUSTNature project and look back on the progress made together.

All recipes from the dishes served at the event, as well as the herbs planted in May, will be summarized in a JUSTNature recipe book, now in preparation, as a specific wish of the Women Café and Open House Community in Bellevue di Monaco.

On September 3rd, a final closing event was held in the courtyard: an Open Air Cinema featuring the movie Capernaum (Capharnaüm, which means "chaos" or a "disorderly accumulation of objects"). This Libanese drama, which debuted at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, was chosen by the Open House Community, and the idea to use the courtyard and the wooden structure to host an open air cinema originated in one of the JUSTNature co-creative workshops in 2023. We are happy we were able to turn it into a reality!
